| PROPOSING AN EXHIBITION
Did your last visit to the MCTQ inspire a great idea for an exhibition? Before sending us a proposal, please read the following information carefully and contact the museum to find out what’s already scheduled.
Exhibition policy
The MCTQ presents four exhibitions annually. Exhibitions are drawn from the museum’s permanent collection, developed from proposals by artists, artisans and outside curators, and based on proposals from academics or museums.
In order to carry out its conservation and research missions, the museum gives precedence to exhibitions with educational potential in the fields of clothing and textile heritage and fibre art.
Eligibility
Only professional artists are eligible. Every creator in the field of visual arts, arts and crafts or literature has the status of a professional artist if they meet the following conditions, as defined in the Act respecting the Professional status of artists in the visual arts, arts and crafts and literature, and their contracts with promoters. (L.R.Q., c.S-32.01):
- he declares himself to be a visual artist;
- he produces works on his own behalf;
- his works are exhibited, produced, published, presented in public or marketed by a promoter, as defined
in
article
3 of Act S-32.01
- he has been recognized by his peers as a professional artist by way of an honourable mention, an award, a prize, a scholarship, an appointment to an adjudication committee or an invitation to participate in a salon or by any other similar means.
Selection process
Exhibition proposals are reviewed by an internal selection committee. The committee, composed of board members, management and staff, selects exhibitions that are consistent with the museum’s mission and that help it meet the goals it has established.
The committee makes final selections based on the following criteria:
- Production quality;
- Connection with the museum’s mission and objectives;
- Balance of programming.
